York County Residents On Edge After Multiple Homes Hit By Bullets
Over several nights, an unidentified shooter has targeted homes in a rural York County neighborhood. The York County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, urging the public to assist in identifying the shooter before someone gets seriously injured.
ROCK HILL, SC (6-minute read) — A wave of fear has gripped a typically peaceful neighborhood in rural York County as an unidentified individual has unleashed a series of reckless gunfire incidents over multiple nights. Three homes in Rock Hill have already been struck by bullets, leaving residents anxiously wondering who might be next.
One homeowner, whose property was hit, described the terrifying moment when a bullet pierced the wall just feet from where they were resting. “We were lying in bed just on the other side of this wall…and the bullet hit right here,” the shaken homeowner recounted. The normally serene and quiet community has been jolted by these dangerous acts, some of which have been captured on home security cameras.
Luckily, no one was injured, but the incident struck a chord with the homeowner, especially since his daughter had just celebrated her 16th birthday in the backyard days earlier. The thought of what could have happened if the timing had been different is a nightmare that haunts him. “You never know what’s going to happen each night,” he said, reflecting on the ongoing threat.
The York County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that two other homes on Rambo Road and Ogden Road have also been struck by bullets. Trent Faris, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, emphasized the gravity of the situation, labeling the actions as “irresponsible and dangerous.” The sheriff’s office is now intensifying its efforts, deploying additional resources to track down the individual responsible for these perilous acts. “Whoever is doing this is endangering lives,” Faris said, voicing the community’s growing concern.
As tension and fear continue to escalate, the looming worry is that if these reckless acts are not stopped, it’s only a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt or worse. “If it goes into a house and injures somebody, and God forbid kills somebody…that’s when you’re going to pay dearly,” Faris warned.
The York County Sheriff’s Office is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the perpetrator before the situation escalates into a tragedy. If anyone has information regarding the shootings, they are urged to contact law enforcement immediately.
Safety Tip: Always report suspicious activity to authorities. If you hear gunshots or notice unusual behavior in your neighborhood, do not hesitate to call 911. Early reporting can help prevent further danger.
