Suspect Breaks Into Home, Gets Shot by Homeowner During Confrontation

FRANKLIN COUNTY, VA — A suspected home intruder was shot during a confrontation with a homeowner in the 100 block of Blue Spruce Drive on the night of March 30, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the scene around 9:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a male subject who had reportedly entered another person’s property and became involved in an altercation with the homeowner. During the incident, the homeowner shot the intruder.
Law enforcement officers provided immediate medical assistance until EMS arrived. The injured individual was airlifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment. His current condition has not been released.
Investigators describe the case as an isolated incident and confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public. As of now, no criminal charges have been filed, though the investigation remains active.
