According to a news release from the Maine State Police, authorities were alerted to the incident at 31 Palmer Road at 8:46 p.m. via a 911 call. The homeowner reported that a man had kicked in his door, prompting the homeowner to shoot the intruder.
The intruder was quickly transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he is currently undergoing medical procedures. While his injuries are serious, officials stated that he is expected to survive.
The State Police Major Crimes Unit is conducting an investigation into the incident, though authorities have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat.
