Homeowner Fends Off Multiple Intruders in Tupelo, Mississippi During Home Invasion

TUPELO, MS — A home invasion on Monday night in Tupelo ended with the homeowner successfully defending himself and his property. On July 15, 2024, around 11:00 PM, a resident in the 400 block of Goodlett Street reported that his home was broken into while he was present.

The homeowner was alerted by a loud noise coming from the rear of his house. Acting swiftly, he armed himself with a firearm and went to investigate. Upon entering the area, he encountered an unknown masked individual inside his home. The suspect, dressed in all black and appearing to be armed, was joined by two accomplices. One wore a black shirt and black pants, while the other was dressed in black pants and a grey shirt.

In response to the threat, the homeowner discharged his firearm, causing the intruders to flee. At least three suspects were seen running from the rear of the residence, heading toward Robbins Field on Jefferson Street. A nearby witness heard the gunshots and observed an older model silver Toyota 4-Runner speeding away eastbound on W. Jackson Street shortly after the incident.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and evidence was collected at the scene. Tupelo Police Department is actively investigating the case and is asking anyone with information to contact them at 662-841-6491, via email at [email protected], or through Crime Stoppers of North East Mississippi at 1-800-773-TIPS.
